Happy 1st Birthday Althea Korea!

IMG_9733

A very happy birthday to Althea Korea! If you don’t already know, you’re totally missing out if you’re into K-beauty products. They are an online portal founded in June 2015, and they serves as a bridge to bring authentic K-beauty products to Southeast Asia, at  the lowest price. They have so many popular brand names under their belt, such as 3CE, Laneige, Face Shop, Etude House, Nature Republic, just to name a few, it makes shopping online a whole lot easier and yes, they will totally make you spend more money than you intend to because they have so many things and you just want to try them all!

Last year when I was working together with them, I chose a couple of 3CE products. I had like 2 lippies, 1 loose foundation and some stuffs from Etude House.

This year, in-conjunction with their first birthday, I picked the following products.

Happy me with their limited edition birthday box.

I used 5 out of 6 items from what I’ve picked.

Laneige Two Tone Lip Bar in Juicy Pop

This is an extremely popular item because Song Hye Kyo or Kang Mo Yuen in Descendants of the Sun actually used. Yes, I grabbed my hands on this one. I’m so sorry the lighting of the place couldn’t really bring out the colours, but I will update again if I manage to capture nicer photos ok.

Witch’s Pouch in SD-1 Royal Golden Beam

I’m a huge lover of shades of brown because I think it suits my eye best and probably anyone’s for that matter. The texture is lightweight and glides onto my eyelids easily, and it can last me the whole day out. The photos wee taken after work, so that’s more than 12 hours of being out and about.

It’s My Eye Maker & Eyelash Curler

The eyelash curler works pretty much like any curlers I’ve used and the Eye Maker is actually eyelid glue where you can create your double eyelid. It works totally well too for my faux eyelashes and it is so affordable!

Nature Republic Aloe Vera 92% Soothing Gel

I’ve mentioned before I have extremely sensitive skin, and thus far, I’ve stopped using all kinds of moisturizers but I find aloe vera works very well for me. It was by chance I found out actually because I went swimming and got sunburnt, and I put aloe vera on my face. That was when I thought it really works wonders and I’ve been using ever since.  I was using another brand’s aloe vera and when I saw this, I was like, okay, I need to get this. So far it is working fine on my skin so all is good. My skin is hydrated, so my face produces lesser oil, thus, I have a less oily face! In Singapore’s context, with the humidity, it is very difficult to keep my face oil free, but aloe vera does help me somehow and my face is not as oily as before.

It’s My Cushion Puff

Last but not least, from the items I received from Althea, is this cushion puff. I have not used it yet but I’m sure it works like any other cushion puff and it will serve its purpose. Haha!

I took the photos foundation/bb cream/ loose powder free. So I only had eyebrow, eye and lip makeup on.

PPP Clinic 360 Solution Review

I was very excited when I received the invitation from Absolute PR for PPP Laser Clinic for a trial session with them because I’ve heard so much about them. I have friends and colleagues who have their packages signed with them and they swear by it.

Although I was ultra excited, at the same time I was apprehensive because just this year, I had an extreme reaction to goodness knows what and my entire face was filled with nasty red rashes. I’ve always had sensitive, T-zone oiliness and dry skin and some rare occasions of eczema, and have avoided products that have alcohol content and I’ve not done a facial since forever. Many years so to speak. Some say I’m quite lucky to have pretty good skin but really, it’s all makeup. Nowadays when I’m at work, I skip foundation/bb cream altogether and no blusher because it is important to let the skin breathe. So, with the little background of my skin condition, let’s start the journey with PPP Laser clinic.

PPP Laser Clinic is a global medical aesthetics care provider and a one stop solution for all your skin care and aesthetics needs. With a top priority of providing safe and effective professional aesthetic care to their customers.

The newly launched 360 Solution revitalizes one’s skin to help achieve  clearer and more radiant complexion. Their medical treatments are all personalized to your skin’s condition.

The 360 Solution is a holistic treatment tailored for a range of skin conditions based on Colour, Consistency and Contour (3Cs).

Colour: Uneven or dull looking skin tone. Pigmentations include melasma, freckles, lentigo, hori’s nevus, birthmarks etc.

Consistency: Poor texture, large pores, acne and acne scars.

Contour: Sagging skin, fine lines and wrinkles.

The 360 solution comprises of 5 different treatments that rejuvenate and refresh the skin, giving it a more radiant and glowing look.

It was an exciting day for me because I’ve always wanted to try their laser treatments!

This is the waiting area where clients were waiting for their turn to seek a consultation session with the doctor.

I was then asked to go to the ‘make up’ room to remove my makeup with an alcohol wipe. As I went prepared, I didn’t put on anything on my face except for my eye and eyebrow makeup, plus a little of concealer to hide my zit. I knew it was an alcohol wipe, so I only removed the concealer and didn’t use much of the wipe since I can’t use alcohol based products.

I met Dr. Wilson Ho for my consultation and I did go prepared. I had so many questions about laser! First, I showed him a photo of me when I had my bad rashes and asked him what’s the chances of an allergy happening. He gave me different variations like how bad it can go and if you’re afraid of allergies just like me and what not, you can be sure that they do uphold their name and will share with you the best possible solution to suit your skin. I asked him how long is the downtime (if any) but there are really different kinds of laser and PPP does non-invasive kind so downtime can just be like half an hour because your face might be red. That’s about it. Dr. Ho was precise in his answers and gave me assurance of that they will use very mild laser on me.

He described the 5 steps.

1. P+ Intensive Laser Treatment (Skin Deep Cleeanse & Rejuvenation)

A non-ablative intensive laser treatment which helps to deep cleanse pores, effective control of oil glands to aid acne recovery and new collagen growth is stimulated.

I did the above treatment as part of the 360 solution in the mildest form of laser.

2. Fractional Laser

A non-invasive treatment which repairs beneath the skin to enhance tightness and elasticity. This helps to remove superficial epidermal pigmentation, reduces pore size, lightening of acne scars and reducing thee appearance of facial lines and wrinkles.

As much as I would have love to have this treatment as part of the 360 solution, Dr. Ho says that I can try this as well but I was a little afraid somehow during his explanation to me on the possible downtime, thus, I forgo this fractional laser.

3. Collagen Remodelling (Lunch Time Face Lift)

The collagen layer of the skin is targeted and new growth of collagen is stimulated to improve skin’s elasticity. It helps to tighten skin and muscle tone, reducing facial lines and wrinkles. Skin is well toned and firm.

Anything collagen is quite safe so to speak, so yup, this was in as part of my treatment.

4. Radio Frequency Skin Treatment

This laser might also be too strong for my skin thus Dr. Ho do not recommend me to take this treatment. Basically, this helps to improve skin laxity and it helps for skin contouring. V-shape face! How sad I was not being able to do this treatment but I rather live with my face shape now than to have to cure the rashes I once had. This treatment helps to lift skin around neck, jawlines and eye areas.

5. Ion Infusion

The ion infusion helps to soothe the skin, minimizes pores and hydrates the skin. This step is essential after doing laser so as to ensure your skin is hydrated. There is no known alleregies whatsoever to this part of the treatment, so yup, this step was in.

So as to say, for my review, I can only share 3 pointers out of the 5 because I’ve only tried 3.

Here’s introducing Dr. Sau, who performed the laser treatment on me. Before the treatment starts, it is highly important for you to wear this eyes protector goggles to block out the light. Each step she does, she will explain to me about the possible discomfort I might feel. If anything, they were so mild and I assure you, it was a painless affair. You can hear some specks of the sound of the laser on your skin and it was totally quite cool if you were to ask me. It’s like the specks are doing wonders to your skin.

This other doctor (sorry I didn’t get your name) helped with the last step, which is the ion infusion. After the final treatment is done, my face felt very hydrated!  All this in a span of just 15 minutes thereabout.

IMG_9646

After the treatment is over, I went back to the makeup room to wait for the skin is be dry, touch up on my eyebrow makeup and I was done. All of this was under one hour. If you’ve stronger skin as compared to me and you can actually do the full treatment, it will take approximately half an hour, minus consultation time. This 360 Solution treatment costs $360. I wish I can do the entire treatment, but I’m glad to have been able to try this out!

Immediately after the treatment, I was able to head out with no downtime!

A mandatory shot at the PPP Laser Clinic. A not much makeup makeup look.

And this is me after my dinner.

IMG_9271

For someone who have given up on facials and my skin care consists of only makeup remover, cleanser and aloe vera as moisturizer, this laser treatment is definitely one option I will seriously consider.

While very prominent results can’t be seen after one treatment (I mean don’t expect magic to happen right), I have to say my skin felt tighter and more luminous after the session. I am so very tempted to go back to them.

I just might, and till then, if you want to have better skin, you can give PPP Laser Clinic a try. To bust the myth of laser thinning your skin, I asked Dr. Ho very directly if doing lasers will thin the skin, he gave me a detailed explanation. In short, invasive laser if you were to do so, yes it will. For PPP, their laser treatments won’t but for point 4 Radio Frequency Skin Treatment, if you were to do too many times, it will thin the skin. However, with the professionals, I’m sure they are able to give the best advice on what is needed or not needed to do on your skin.

Thanks for having me and for the media kit! Good luck and cheers to luminous skin! 🙂
